There are wedding days that are beautiful, and then there are wedding days where everything just feels right.

Sarah and Dylan’s wedding at The Ryland Inn was one of those days.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous, the property looked incredible, their people came ready to celebrate, and Sarah and Dylan allowed themselves to actually experience it all. They trusted the team they had hired, stayed present with each other, and let the day unfold around them.

And it turned into one of the best wedding days ever.

From seeing each other for the first time as Sarah walked down the aisle to eating cake together in a bathtub at the end of the night and running through a tunnel of sparklers with everyone they loved cheering them on, this wedding was completely, unapologetically them.

We loved every second of it.

The property itself is beautiful. Open fields, trees, historic architecture, gorgeous indoor spaces, and incredible natural light give us so much to work with throughout a wedding day. But what we really love is that the venue never feels like it needs to become the center of attention.

It creates the setting and then allows the people inside of it to become the story.

Sarah and Dylan's wedding was the perfect example.

No First Look. Just the Aisle.

Sarah and Dylan chose not to see each other before their ceremony.

Their first time seeing each other on their wedding day would happen exactly where they wanted it to happen: walking down the aisle.

There's something incredibly special about that moment.

Everyone is standing. The music begins. The doors open. And for a few seconds, it feels like the entire world disappears except for the two people looking at each other from opposite ends of the aisle.

We love first looks, but we also love when couples decide that isn't their story.

For Sarah and Dylan, waiting made the moment even more powerful. There was no recreating it and no directing it. Their reactions were completely genuine, and we simply had the privilege of documenting them.

That's what wedding photography should feel like.

One of the biggest reasons this wedding felt so effortless was something couples don't always think about when planning their wedding:

Our approach to photographing weddings has never been about turning the entire day into a photoshoot.

Of course we'll create beautiful portraits. We'll find incredible light. We'll help when direction is needed.

But then we want you back at your wedding.

Sarah and Dylan gave us the freedom to document their day exactly that way. We could watch for the moments happening naturally instead of constantly pulling them away from the people they loved.

That meant we could photograph the big moments, but also everything happening around them: the reactions during the ceremony, the conversations happening during cocktail hour, the absolute chaos of the dance floor, and all of those tiny interactions they probably didn't even realize were happening.

Those are the photographs that eventually become priceless.

And Then They Got Into a Bathtub With Their Wedding Cake

Yes.

A bathtub.

With cake.

And it was incredible.

By the end of the night, Sarah and Dylan were completely in celebration mode. Rather than worrying about keeping everything pristine or doing what they were "supposed" to do, they leaned all the way into having fun.

They climbed into a bathtub and ate their wedding cake together.

It was spontaneous, hilarious, slightly chaotic, and exactly the kind of moment we hope happens at every wedding.

Because twenty years from now, they'll have plenty of beautiful photographs from their wedding day.

But they're definitely going to remember the photographs of themselves sitting in a bathtub eating cake.

Ending the Night With Sparklers

After an entire day of beautiful weather, an emotional ceremony, incredible food, and a packed dance floor, there was only one way this wedding could end.

With everyone outside.

Sparklers in the air.

Sarah and Dylan running straight through the middle of the people who had just spent the entire day celebrating them.

It was loud, joyful, slightly chaotic, and absolutely perfect.

The kind of ending where you put the cameras down afterward and immediately know:

That was a freaking wedding.
