A Beautiful New Jersey Wedding Venue

Every once in a while, we photograph at a venue for the first time and immediately understand why couples fall in love with it.

TillingHouse in New Jersey is one of those places.

This wedding gave us the opportunity to experience so much of what TillingHouse has to offer, and we walked away genuinely impressed. The property is beautiful inside and out, there are endless opportunities for photographs, the food was incredible, the atmosphere was great, and everything throughout the venue felt exceptionally clean and well cared for.

It also proved that your entire wedding day doesn't need to happen in one location for TillingHouse to work perfectly. Our bride started her morning getting ready at a nearby Airbnb, the couple held their ceremony at a local church, and then everyone came together at TillingHouse for formal photographs, cocktail hour, and the reception.

The entire day flowed beautifully.

Getting Ready Before TillingHouse

Our day began with the bride getting ready at a local Airbnb, surrounded by the people closest to her.

We actually love when couples choose a getting-ready location that gives everyone enough space to relax. The morning of a wedding already has so much anticipation built into it, and having a comfortable place for everyone to get dressed, spend time together, and allow the morning to unfold naturally can make such a difference.

From a photography perspective, these are also some of our favorite hours of a wedding day. It's less about creating photographs and more about watching everything begin to happen. The finishing touches, the nerves, the laughter, family walking in and out of rooms, and that realization that the wedding day everyone has been talking about for months is finally here.

Once everyone was ready, it was time for the ceremony.

A Traditional Church Ceremony

Rather than having their ceremony at TillingHouse, our couple chose to get married at a local church.

There's something timeless about a church ceremony. It gives the ceremony its own identity within the wedding day and creates a natural transition from the more emotional, traditional part of the celebration into the party that follows.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way to TillingHouse, and that's where we really got to explore the property.

So Many Places for Wedding Photos at TillingHouse

One of the first things we noticed about TillingHouse was just how many options we had for photographs.

There are beautiful spaces everywhere.

We did all of the couple's formal photographs at TillingHouse, and we never felt like we were searching for somewhere to shoot. The property gives photographers a great mix of indoor and outdoor locations, which is something we really appreciate on a wedding day.

Instead of taking a couple to one obvious portrait location and creating every photograph in the same spot, we can move through the property and create variety without disappearing for an hour.

That's important to us.

We want our couples to have beautiful portraits, but we also want them to actually experience their wedding. Having so many photography opportunities in one place allows us to work efficiently, create something beautiful, and get everyone back to cocktail hour.

A Cocktail Hour We Actually Wanted to Photograph

Cocktail hour at TillingHouse was one of our favorite parts of the day.

The space had a great atmosphere, guests could actually move around and enjoy themselves, and there was an energy to it that immediately made the transition from ceremony to reception feel natural.

This is also where our documentary approach really comes alive.

Once the formal photographs are finished, we don't need to constantly pull our couple away. We can watch the wedding happen around them.

Friends seeing each other.

Family members catching up.

Drinks being passed around.

People laughing in corners of the room.

The couple finally getting a chance to breathe and realize that they're married.

Those little moments might not appear anywhere on a wedding timeline, but they're a huge part of what the day actually felt like.

The Food at TillingHouse Was Incredible

We have to talk about the food.

It was really good.

After photographing as many weddings as we have, we experience a lot of wedding food, and there's absolutely a difference between food that simply feeds a large room and food that becomes part of the experience.

TillingHouse delivered.

From cocktail hour into the reception, the food matched the overall quality of the venue and helped create an experience that felt thoughtful from beginning to end.

And that matters.

Couples spend so much time thinking about what their wedding will look like, but your guests are going to remember how it felt to be there. The food, service, atmosphere, and way people move through the spaces all contribute to that.

Beautiful Inside and Out

What really stood out to us about TillingHouse was how complete the venue felt.

Some venues have an incredible outdoor space but don't offer the same experience once you step inside. Others have a beautiful ballroom but very few options outside of it.

TillingHouse gives you both.

The outdoor areas offer plenty of opportunities for portraits and moments away from the reception, while the interior spaces feel polished, inviting, and intentionally designed.

We were also genuinely impressed by how clean and well maintained everything felt.

That might not sound like the most exciting thing to mention in a wedding blog, but it's something you notice immediately when you're spending an entire day at a venue. The property felt cared for, and that attention to detail carried through the entire experience.

Why We Loved Photographing at TillingHouse

From a photographer's perspective, TillingHouse makes our job easy in all the right ways.

There are plenty of beautiful places to photograph without forcing the day to revolve around photography. We can use the property for formal portraits, then step back and document cocktail hour and the reception as they naturally happen.

That's exactly how we want a wedding day to feel.

Our couple could get ready somewhere else, have the church ceremony they wanted, arrive at TillingHouse for all of their formal photographs, and then spend the rest of the evening actually celebrating with their people.

Nothing felt overly complicated.

It was simply a beautiful place filled with people having an incredible time.

And that's exactly the kind of wedding we love to photograph.
